Pick Me Up Is Underway!

So after many weeks of toiling, organising, and collecting, Pick Me Up is well underway! Here's a sneak peak of our room at the exhibition, which we've set-up based on an English Country Manor drawing room. If you haven't had the chance to visit the exhibition at Somerset House yet, then definitely make sure to head down as it's an absolutely amazing show.

To see more photos of our set up visit the Evening Tweed Flickr.

Alone in the Empty Cottage

Here's a new 2-colour screenprint I've recently finished entitled Alone in the Empty Cottage. The text is an extract from a poem by Sir Francis Osbert Sacheverell Sitwell, 5th Baronet, an English poet born in 1892. The print is part of a new series of pieces from us at Evening Tweed based on the theme of the Country Manor, which we've created especially for the Pick Me Up show at Somerset House. This, and the rest of the prints, will be available to purchase from the show which begins on the 23rd April.

Studio Photos

Here are some photos of my new studio, taken by Akemi Kurosaka during a studio visit by the RCKT Co. team a couple of weeks ago. The visit included a photoshoot and interview, which will be used as part of the 'Hello London' exhibition that's being held this summer at PARCO in Japan.

February

Last month was super busy, with many new projects and exciting events:

On Tuesday four of the RCKT Co. team visited my studio for an exhibition I've been asked to take part in at PARCO, Japan. The exhibition focuses on the current UK design scene, and the list of studios involved is absolutely amazing (Big Active / Bibliotheque / Build / Jonathan Barnbrook / Julian House (Intro) / Neville Brody / Studio 8 / Tomato / Yes...) so I'm very excited to be taking part in this show. More about this soon.

I've just finished a tshirt for the Tate Modern through the lovely chaps at SuperSuperficial. This will be available in stores early next month, so keeps your eyes peeled for further updates.

And finally, I've recently completed a new illustration for Money Magazine (US). It's to accompany a feature article on cutting taxes, and is created out of dozens of US tax forms (below). This will be printed in the March issue.

Interiors 2010

Last weekend Thomas Forsyth and I were both at Interiors 2010 exhibiting our collaboration Aschenputtel. The exhibition was a great success, and the Designersblock stand was packed with many collaborative gems. A big thank you to Bud, Rory and Piers for getting us involved in the exhibition, and for their kind hospitality. Thanks also to all the brilliant designers we exhibited with, and to all the interesting people we met.

See a video of Aschenputtel in action here.

Interiors 2010 countdown

So whilst the snow has been gradually taking over the British Isles, Thomas Forsyth and I have been busy finishing up our collaboration for the Interiors 2010 exhibition later this month. All I'll give away for now is that it's based on the fairytale of Aschenputtel, and it involves a lonely piece of furniture kindly donated to us by Emmaus. Above you can see the remnants of a new papercut piece I've created for the collaboration, as well as a pile of ties that will soon be transformed into a colourful patchwork. More on this shortly...

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to you all, I hope everyone is well fed and watered. I'm now back to work after a nice little break. It looks like January is going to be a busy month, with a range of projects going on for the likes of the Tate, and Morr Music. Thomas Forsyth and I are also very busy trying to finish our piece for the Interiors 2010 exhibition, which is taking place later this month at the Birmingham NEC.

Oh, and thanks to Chris Clarke for pointing me towards the Grafik blog which features my Warm Greetings card hidding behind a tree (below). You win a gold star and a slightly stale half-eaten Christmas pudding.
